As she faces a 35-year prison sentence at Fort Leavenworth, Army private Chelsea Manning has filed documents, through her attorney, asking to be pardoned by President Barack Obama.

Manning's attorney, David Coombs, filed the documents Tuesday, the Associated Press reports. Manning was found guilty of more than 20 violations for leaking classified information to WikiLeaks in 2010.

"The decisions I made in 2010 were made out of a concern for my country and the world that we live in," she wrote in the pardon request.

According to the Private Manning Support Network, Manning is currently undergoing the three-week indoctrination process at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
